Privacy at JoeyLoop

JoeyLoop handles some of the most sensitive data there is: information about young children. We take that seriously, and we build for it from day one.
Australian data residency
Every JoeyLoop record — children's profiles, photos, voice recordings, observations and documentation — is stored in Australia, in Microsoft Azure's Australia East region. Voice recordings are transcribed in Australia too, by Azure AI Speech in the same region.
One exception, stated plainly
JoeyLoop uses Anthropic's Claude to turn an educator's spoken or typed notes into a draft observation. To do that, the text of those notes is sent to Anthropic, which processes it outside Australia. That text can include a child's first name and what they did that day. The same applies to the small sample of rows a service provides when importing its existing records during onboarding.
Audio recordings and photos are never sent to Anthropic. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this text is not used to train their models, and it is deleted within 30 days.
We are moving this step so that no personal information leaves Australia — by replacing children's names with placeholders before any text is sent, by running the model in an Australian region, or both. Until that is done, this page says so.
Privacy Act and the APPs
We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, including a documented child-data handling policy, granular guardian consent controls, and records-retention schedules aligned with the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
Your data stays yours
Services can export their data in full at any time. We don't sell data, and we don't use your service's data to advertise to families.

JoeyLoop is operated by LoanLoop Pty Ltd (ACN 696 406 112, ABN 77 696 406 112), an Australian company. LoanLoop Pty Ltd is the entity responsible for personal information handled through JoeyLoop, and is the contact for any privacy question, access request or complaint.
